113th Season

President Roderick Williams

Welcome to Malvern Concert Club

Ever since its first concert on 31 October 1903, MALVERN CONCERT CLUB has been a cornerstone of musical life in Worcestershire. It was founded by Sir Edward Elgar, and the Club’s first Secretary (for over 38 years) was his close friend the local architect Arthur Troyte Griffith, whom Elgar had immortalised in Variation No. VII, Troyte, in his Enigma Variations.

113 years later, today’s Concert Club is proud to continue that tradition of bringing the best chamber music to this part of the country. Whilst grounded in the tradition of the string quartet, each season brings a varied selection of music for small ensemble, with and without keyboard, and voice. Our performers are British and overseas musicians of international standing, with a balance of established artists and promising newcomers.

All our concerts are open to members and non-members.  Evening concerts are on Thursdays at 7.30pm in The Forum, Malvern Theatres. New for Spring 2016 are Friday daytime concerts in St Edmund’s Hall, Malvern College.

From the beginning of the 112th Season in 2014, the Club was privileged to welcome the distingished baritone, Roderick Williams, as its President.

The Club continues to be grateful for the constant support for its activities from its principal season sponsor, The Elmley Foundation, whose dedication to the arts in Herefordshire and Worcestershire is widely appreciated.
