Monteverdi     Vespers of 1610

This very special concert celebrates the 400th anniversary of one of the greatest works in the history of music. With sparkling solos and vocal acrobatics, it was written on an ambitious scale, but performed with ten singers and period instruments it is also thrillingly intimate.

The Irish-based Vanbrugh Quartet has delighted the Club on no less than five previous occasions.  We have had many requests for ‘late Beethoven’ and our President, Michael Kennedy, described the Vanbrugh recording of op.130 as  ‘magnificent sustained artistry’

Tasmin Little is one of the leading international violinists of today.  She is especially admired for her performances of English music and has researched that of Delius. Piers Lane gave us a well-received recital in 1999.  Together they have recorded all Delius’ works for this combination.
